Born in Mumbai, India to Vassanti and her father was a lawyer her grandpa ( Mr.Subppa Poojari & Ms.Girija)) & ( [Mr. Sankappa Kotian] & Mrs. Lalita). She was raised in a liberal household, her parents hail from Padubidri, Mangalore.
She went to Canossa Convent, Mumbai, pursued her B.Com at Sydenham College, Mumbai, and discontinued in her third Year.
Mallar was discovered by the photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha for Danabhai Jewelers. She was placed among the 12 finalists in the Elite supermodel contest held in 1994 and worked for Armani and Fendi. She endorsed many brands over the years like Maybelline, McDowells, LG Electronics, Gold Flake, Grasim Suitings, Motorola, the latest Tata Indigo Marina and Wildstone. She is the face of Maybelline cosmetics
